Manual 03 - Rear Camera

Power down device.

Push down on SIM card ejector slot with a paper clip to pop up the tray.

Finish removing the SIM card tray with your fingers. Place SIM card and tray in COMPARTMENT A.

Picture 1: Open the charging port.

Picture 2: Use the pointed tip of the spudger to push up the battery cover slightly.

Picture 3: Place a blue pry tool face down between the front panel and battery cover.

Picture 1: Sweep along the bottom edge from left to right releasing clips holding the battery cover down.

Picture 2: Slowly work your way around the corner gently prying up as you go.

Picture 3: Work your way up the side (the side opposite the volume rocker), holding the battery cover up with your thumb.

Insert the spudger in the lower-left corner. Work your way around the corner, then up to the volume rocker.

Remove the pry tool when you reach the volume rocker.

Push the upper-right corner up with a guitar pick, then insert a blue pry tool to continue working up the corner.

Pry up the corner near the headphone jack.

The battery cover is still held in place with adhesive near the speaker:

Heat the speaker area with low-level heat (100° Celsius or less).

Work the battery cover up from the bottom with your fingers.

Picture 1: With the bottom of the battery cover up, the charging port cover should now be loose. Remove it and place in COMPARTMENT B.

Picture 2: You may have to use the flat end of the spudger to cut through the adhesive on the speaker.

Picture 1: Use both hands to continue pulling the battery cover from the phone.

Pictures 2 & 3: The neon gasket should stay attached to the battery cover. If the gasket sticks to the front panel, use the pointed end of the spudger to free it.

Pictures 1 & 2: Work the battery cover towards the top.

Be careful not to torque the clips marked in red in Picture 2.

Picture 3: Remove battery cover from phone.

Place the battery cover in ZONE I.

Pinch the black tape covering the logic board in the upper-left corner.

Gently peel it away from the phone.

Place the black tape in ZONE I on top of the battery cover.

Remove two 1.5 mm Phillips #00 screws from the battery connector. Place in SLOT 1.

Use flat end of spudger to disconnect battery, approaching it from the angle in the picture.

Picture 1: Remove four 1.6 mm Phillips #00 screws securing the two large daughter board flex cables. Place in SLOT 2.

Pictures 2 & 3: Use the blue pry tool to disconnect the two large daughter board flex cables from the main logic board.

Hold the left daughter board flex cable up (red square in Picture 1) to expose cables:

Picture 1: Peel up Kapton tape covering ZIF connectors & antenna connector.

Picture 2: Disconnect antenna cable with the blue pry tool placed exactly where shown.

Picture 3: Move antenna cable out of the way to access the ZIF connectors on either side of the antenna connector.

Open LCD ZIF connector with blue pry tool.

Gently pull LCD cable free with your finger.

Open volume rocker cable ZIF connector.

Use the blue pry tool to snag the tab on the cable and gently pull it free.

Picture 1: Remove Kapton tape from charging port connector cable.

Picture 2: Open ZIF connector.

Picture 3: Pull charging port cable free.

Pictures 1 & 2: Hold charging port cable out of the way while opening hidden digitizer ZIF connector with blue pry tool.

Picture 3: Guide digitizer cable out of ZIF connector.

Picture 1: Disconnect left antenna from main board.

Picture 2: Disconnect right antenna from main board.

Picture 3: Brush antennas out of the way of the main logic board.

Remove four 3.8 mm Phillips #00 screws from logic board. Place in SLOT 3.

Lift corner of logic board slightly.

Picture 1: Guide logic board out from under charging port tab (red square).

Pictures 2 & 3: Continue pulling logic board free, brushing cables out of the way as you go.

Place logic board in ZONE II.

Dislodge microphone, but don't try to remove it.

Peel up tape covering power button contact.

Place tape on back wall of COMPARTMENT B.

Power button is connected to the daughter board and is adhered to the mid-panel:

Picture 1: Wedge the tip of the iSesamo directly under the power button contact. Be careful not to put pressure on the seating tabs (red squares).

Picture 2: Lift contact upright with your fingernail.

Pictures 1 & 2: Wedge the flat end of the spudger under the daughter board where shown. Lift up slightly.

Rear camera is connected to underside of logic board:

Picture 3: While lifting the right side of the daughter board with the spudger, pull the rear camera up from its socket with your thumb.

Remember, the power button contact (red square) is attached to the daughter board:

Lift the bottom of the daughter board with your finger, while using the blue pry tool to lift the power button contact away from the mid-frame.

Place daughter board or front panel (depending on the repair needed) in ZONE III.

Picture 1: Use plastic tweezers to peel up Kapton tape covering rear camera connector.

Picture 2: Use blue pry tool to open ZIF connector.

Picture 3: Gently pull rear camera free from ZIF connector.

Place rear camera in COMPARTMENT D.

From COMPARTMENT D, replace rear camera:

Push rear camera cable into open ZIF connector.

Close ZIF connector.

Seat daughter board:

Picture 1: Top in first.

Picture 2: Seat power button

Picture 3: Line up tabs on display assembly with openings on daughter board (red squares).

Push the power button contact into place. Make sure the openings on the power button contact line up with the tabs on the mid-frame (red squares).

Replace tape from the back wall of COMPARTMENT B to hold the power button contact in place.

From ZONE II, replace logic board.

Make sure the opening on the logic board sits under the tab on the charging port (red square).

Brush cables out of the way as you continue seating the logic board.

Make sure no cables are trapped underneath as you finish seating the logic board.

Replace four 3.8 mm Phillips #00 screws from SLOT 3 to secure logic board.

Seat left antenna cable on main logic board.

Seat right antenna cable on main logic board.

Picture 1: Connect digitizer and charging port cables:

Picture 2: Seat digitizer cable then, close ZIF connector.

Picture 3: Seat charging port cable, then close ZIF connector.

Picture 1: Connect volume rocker cable and LCD cable.

Note we spin the device 150 degrees counter-clockwise in Pictures 2 & 3:

Picture 2: Push volume rocker cable into ZIF connector and close it.

Pictures 3: Push LCD cable into ZIF connector. Close ZIF connector.

Seat long wifi antenna cable.

Note we spin the device 150 degrees counter-clockwise in Picture 2.

Seat large daughter board flex cables on logic board.

From SLOT 2, replace four 1.6 mm Phillips #00 screws securing the two large daughter board flex cables.

Seat battery cable.

Replace two 1.5 mm Phillips #00 screws from SLOT 1.

From ZONE I, cover the logic board with black tape.

From ZONE I, replace battery cover:

Pictures 1 & 2: Align tabs first.

Picture 3: Push top of battery cover into place.

Continue pushing into place, but leave the bottom edge up.

Picture 1: Replace charging port cover from COMPARTMENT B.

Picture 2: Push sides into place.

Picture 3: Squeeze bottom of battery cover into place.

Work your way around the perimeter making sure all battery cover clips are snapped in place.

Double check the perimeter of the battery cover to ensure all edges are completed seated.

Replace the SIM card and tray from COMPARTMENT A.

Power up and test device.
